Internet over powerline.

So your stuck with a problem, you just built a htpc for you theater but you realize you have no cat5 cables running to that room. What can you do?

Well you could get into the atic and run some new lines, but if you live in a place were accessing the atic or the basement is a problem, you have two solutions left. You can use wireless, but its slow and unrelieable and not what you want.
So what do you do? You run the internet through the powerlines that are already in your house. How is this possible? With a powerline adapter like the one in the picture.
Powerline adapters make it easy to get internet pretty much anywere in your house. You plug one in at the internet source and the other at where you want internet.
Now you may be saying to yourself; "thats not posible, it just is some wireless bridge setup." well you'd be wrong. This system accually runs the internet through your existing electric wireing. And it does a good job of it. For example; a wireless G connection can only give you up to 54mbps and a wireless N around 300mbps, but you wouln't get the relieability that you want from a wireless connection. And honestly, if you routers on the other side of the house, chances are your not gonna get a very good connection. But the powerline system gives you 200mbps, (up to 600mbps for the more expencive models) and it gives you a more stable connection.
Now the system isn't perfect, some peoples wiring setups wouln't support it. So its kinda a shot in the dark wether yours will or not. So if this sounds good to you, I recommend buying it at a local store with a good return policy. Just in case.
Make sure you do your homework before you but one because not all adapters are made equil. Read reveiws and find out which one best fits your situation.
