Review: Le Pan tc 970 tablet

To sum it up in two words; it's great.

I was so excited when I opened it up this morning for Chritmas, when I looked it up a week ago I didn't know what to expect, I certainly had never heard of Le Pan before. However, after hours of research, I stumbled accross the consistant positive reviews of this tablet. So i decided to get it...

First look:
As always, newegg wholesale it in a nice size box, keeping it safe from impacts with plenty of bubble rap. The product box was equally as nice, clean white colored box that feels very solid. On the inside was the tablet, covered heavily with protective plastic. Hiding under the tablet was the charger/USB cable, arm band, documentation, and most importantly the cleaning cloth(trust me, you will need it!)

Hardware:
For a 200$ tablet, I was surprised with the specs on this machine. With a 1GHz CPU and half a gig of Ram, the tablet feels very snappy, but I'll go in to that later. The construction is very nice, it doesn't feel cheap or plasticy at all. It's heavy, but not too heavy, a better word would be solid, it feels solid. The only problem I have with it is finger prints and smudges. Remember how I told you your gonna need that cleaning cloth, because this thing is a magnet for finger prints, but it's not that bad unless your in bright light, then they are really bad, but that goes for any glossy screen, hopefully I can find a screen protector. Wile were on the topic of screens, can I just say, this one looks nice! It runs the same resolution as the iPad (I don't know it off the top of my head), pictures look crisp and vibrant, as well do colors. The viewing angles are also great, I was actually surprised in the big viewing angle being better than my laptop. The speakers are loud, The speakers are soo loud, I would venture to say their even loader then the speakers built into my TV! This tablet is perfect for showing off that YouTube video that everyone is talking about at your next house party.
The built in front facing camera isn't that good, but what can you expect, it would be great for web chatting or what ever they call it now a days, I don't do much of it anyway.
(Here is a picture of me, taken with the built in camera, not bad right? ^^)

Software:
Its nice and snappy, it runs version 2.2. The only con for it is that 2.2 is actually a phone version, so things feel a little big and spaced out, but on the up-side you wouldn't have any trouble reading something. In the near future I will be attempting to root is and install LCD density, everything's just a Tad to big for me.

Conclusion:
For the price, you absolutely cannot beat this tablet, period. Ya you may think the kindle fire would be a better deal but youd be wrong there is no comparison, you should get this one. You will not regret it.

  1. I just ordered my le pan tc970 today from Walmart.com. It was pretty cheap from the other store I wanted to get it at originally. It comes with a case. :).

do you know how to upload digital copies of movies if you have them for itunes?

  2. You could connect the included USB cable to you computer, and find the movie files in windows explorer and copy it to the tablet directly. But with the size of most movie files, it probably wouldn't fit on the 2 gigabyte, memory card included with the tablet, you might want to consider buying a bigger micro see card (you can pick one up pretty cheap at Walmart). I recommend at least 8 gigabytes, but if you have the money, go for the bigger card. The most you can get is a 32gigabyte card.

I also know of some applications that you can install on your tablet and on your computer, and it will make iTunes recognize it, so you can sync via iTunes.

I'll write a guide on how to do that, it will be up pretty soon.
